Welcome to Spring in Southern California’s high country!
Big Bear Lake Maifest (pronounced My Fest) is known as Oktoberfest’s little sister with all the same great German fun as Oktoberfest. While Maifest is scaled back version of her big brother, Oktoberfest, the fun is just as big and exciting! She packs a big punch! Here’s what you can expect… specially brewed Maibock bier direct from Germany; a huge Maipole with traditional Maipole dances; Maibowle Punch (a sparkling, fruity Bavarian cocktail); and a chance to qualify for an all-expense paid trip to the
National Steinholding Championships in New York City!
At Maifest, like Oktoberfest, the entertainment is a mixture of traditional and new. During the day, expect to hear traditional Bavarian tunes of the oom-pah-pah style coming from live German bands. Complete with all the Ein Prosits and chicken dances you can handle!
After dark, things take a slight turn and the party amps up with DJ’s and live American bands.
The 8th Annual Big Bear Lake Maifest kicks off Saturday, May 17 with a special tribute to America’s Heroes (U.S. Military, law enforcement and firefighters). The festivities continue the following two weekends for three more dates Saturday, May 24, Sunday, May 25 (Memorial Day Weekend), and Saturday, May 31.
